His family confirmed that he died peacefully on April 19 at his home in Gardnerville, Nevada. In a statement, they described him as a devoted artist whose life was shaped by music and meaningful connections with others.

Born in Worcester, England, Mason rose to prominence in the late 1960s as a founding member of Traffic alongside Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, and Chris Wood. The band became known for blending rock, blues, and psychedelic influences, helping define a unique sound that resonated with audiences worldwide.
